Slave and Master

Basic thought can be describe as the emotional interpretation of the outside world.  Here is a silly example…

Yesterday my boyfriends broke up with me, I got sad, angry and to avenge myself I took a knife and stabbed him in the chest until he died.

The action of stabbing him belongs to me, but wasn’t created by me. That thought was generated by my sadness and anger which in their turn were created by his will to leave me. In other word, he and my emotions are Masters of my decision, and I’m just the puppet.

If he had not choose to quit me, I would not have stabbed him.

As many of my action are bound to my basic thoughts, and my basic thoughts are bound to my emotions, I must then control my emotion and thought if I want to get a higher control of myself.

“In order to become my master, I must learn to control my emotions and thoughts”

I’m alive because my father and my mother decided to have a child. Did they ask my opinion before having sex? No.

I was born in this world and not in another one, here I have to pay taxes, I have to work to survive, I have to interact with other; but maybe I don’t want to do all those things. Can I?

“Nature tells me to adapt myself to the condition I found before trying to  transform them”

In other word, I’m the slave of what I found, but I become the master of what I will create.

Everyone, once in his life, has wished to change a peculiar character, or habit, he has. Being patient, less temper, arrogant, jealous, stop procrastinating etc. I actually found it harder to get rid of a habit than to acquire a new one:  Who’s the master then?

Many of us believe we are born free; it’s just an illusion. Our emotions, the determinism of other and our natural barrier (hunger, pain and menstruation) made us slaves of many principles:

We are born slaves and we shall try to die free.

All the species in the world adapted themselves to the environment surrounding them, all but one. We adapt ourselves and transform the surrounding.

  1. How can you say that we are born slaves? That I don’t understand. Long time ago, people live to hunt to survive. Now, we work to survive. It is normal to be hungry, to feel happy or to feel sad. It is natural. If we do something to inflict pain then that is the decision of one’s self to slave themselves to this type of action. To die free is to feel nothing.

    • People needed to hunt in order to survive because they were born with the ability to feel hunger whether they want it or not. I mean that, the principle of hunger or blood coagulation, and many other standard common to every living species, wasn’t decided by us.
In fact, if the human body is a program, then you are not the author of the program but you are trying to figure out how to sustain the attribute of the program itself; and one way of doing that is by hunting for food.

Slave: One that is completely subservient to a dominating influence

We are born with different religious dogma we didn’t choose, depending of you family you will be worshiping Mohamed or Moses or Joseph smith or Jesus or Vishnu… As a young child you are slave to those dogmas you didn’t choose and they will probably shape your life until you reach the age of reason.
That’s why I said: “We are slave to what we found”
How many stories of people who became cannibals in time of hunger do we know? They were driven by their hunger… In other word they were slave to the principle of hunger.
Fear which is a natural feeling, common to all species, shows us how under his influence we can perform action we would have never done under calm and serenity.

Edward Gibbon resumes my word nicely with this aphorism:
“I was still the slave of education and prejudice”

You wrote that we are here to survive; I will have to add something at the end of your sentence.
I believe that we are here to evolve, and not to survive.

To survive is not a goal, it’s a means to our personal evolution.

And to die free is not to feel nothing; if you feel nothing you are already dead i guess :D
Anyway that’s another topic I will definitely write about later.
